The Valley Isle

We have lots of Maui island info available for you in our condos.  Check out info on this page to get a quick overview of some of our favorite things to do on Maui. Did you know Maui is known as the “Valley Isle” because it was formed by two volcanoes, Puu Kukui (elev. 5,788 feet) in the northwest and Haleakala (elev. 10,023 feet) in the southeast, which are connected by a narrow isthmus of farming land. Most activities are available right in Wailea but seeing the entire island is fun…

Take the day and drive to Hana (Don’t miss the black sand beaches and famous wind surfing areas past Paia). There are great hikes to waterfalls on the way.  Maui Twin Falls – waterfalls on the Road to Hana

Or take a tour and bike down Haleakala Volcano (Haleakala means “house of the sun” in Hawaiian). The sunrises are almost always spectacular. Bring a jacket, the temperature can easily be in the 30’s at sun rise even in August.

On your way back, stop at the local winery (pineapple wine) or visit the flower and vegetable growing areas “UpCountry” near Kula or the artists colony in Makawao.  Mamaʻs on the beach near Paia is a real treat.

Girl Hikes in West Maui Mountains looking down IAO Valley

West Maui offers some wonderful hikes in the West Maui Mountains – the oldest mountains on Maui. Io is one of the wettest spots on earth so it’s no wonder through the years rain has etched the face of these mountains making for some wonderful wrinkles and valleys.

But it’s the water and beaches that call us. Our beaches are rated among the best in the world and boast soft, white sand and gentle rolling surf. You can ocean kayak for miles, build a sand castle or read a book

You can walk to some of the best scuba and snorkeling in the world or take a boat to Molokini.
